Doping Anomalies and Oxygen Vacancies in Underdoped Superconducting Cuprates

چکیده
Measurements of thermal conductivity (κ) versus temperature and doping for several cuprate superconductors are discussed. Suppressed values of the normalstate κ and the slope change in κ at Tc, observed near 1/8 doping in both YBa2Cu3O6+x and Hg cuprates, are attributed to local lattice distortions and the suppression of the superconducting condensate, respectively. Both phenomena are proposed to arise from small domains of localized planar holes, presumably a manifestation of phase separation. It is suggested that the phase behavior of κ reflects stripe dynamics and the 1/8 doping anomalies stripe pinning by oxygen-vacancy clusters.

Field-induced thermal metal-to-insulator transition in underdoped LSCO
The transport of heat and charge in cuprates was measured in undoped and heavily-underdoped single crystal La2−xSrxCuO4+δ (LSCO). In underdoped LSCO, the thermal conductivity is found to decrease with increasing magnetic field in the T → 0 limit, in striking contrast to the increase observed in all superconductors, including cuprates at higher doping. The suppression of superconductivity with m...

We comment on transport experiments in underdoped LaSrCuO in the non-superconducting phase. The temperature dependence of the resistance strongly resembles what is expected from standard localization theory. However this theory fails, when comparing with experiments in more detail.
متن کاملOxygen Isotope Effects on Tc Related to Polaronic Superconductivity in Underdoped Cuprates
The planar oxygen isotope effect on Tc observed in copper oxide superconductors is remarkable in that it increases from near nil at optimal doping to a value twice that derived from BCS theory in the underdoped region. This behavior is quantitatively followed by a formula proposed by Kresin and Wolf in 1994 for polarons along the c-axis. Herein it is revisited in a more transparent way, and it ...
متن کاملEvidence for crossover from a Bose-Einstein condensate to a BCS-like superconductor with doping in YBa2Cu3O7−δ from quasiparticle relaxation
Time resolved measurements of quasiparticle (QP) relaxation dynamics on the femtosecond timescale are reported as a function of temperature and doping in YBa2Cu3O7−δ for (0.48 < δ < 0.1). In the underdoped state (δ > 0.15), there is no evidence for any changes in the low-energy gap structure at Tc from either photoinduced QP absorption or QP relaxation time data. In combination with the sum rul...

This is a particularly exciting time for high-Tc. The experimental knowledge converges. Almost all experiments, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), tunneling spectroscopy etc., provide an evidence for the existence of a characteristic energy scale T*(δ) in the underdoped regime (δ is hole doping). Below and around the line T*(δ) the "normal" stat...
